Joseph Coppo ACSM, has been in the health industry since 1998. Joe studied Kinesiology at Hunter College and holds certifications with The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), The American Council on Exercise (ACE), and is CPR/AED certified with the American Red Cross. In addition to 13 years of personal training, Joe is the owner of SoHo Fitness Consulting, Inc., specializing in corporate fitness management and currently manages the fitness center for Scholastic Inc., located in lower Manhattan.
Joe's professional career may have begun in 1998, but his interest in fitness goes back to his childhood. He participated in a number of sports in and outside of school. Joe was a member of the Marine Corp. fitness club and competed in an overall fitness competition at Nassau Coliseum. At Hunter College, Joe was a subject for Dr. Thomas Burke's research project on the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE). RPE is a way of measuring physical activity intensity level.
