MEET CAROLYN

Carolyn Langer

PT, DPT, CSCS

A Queens native and lifelong athlete, Carolyn brings a deep passion for sports performance and injury recovery to her work at Thrive. Her clinical focus spans orthopedic and sports injuries, return-to-sport rehabilitation, and pelvic health — and her approach is grounded in the belief that strength training is for everyone, regardless of what brought you through the door.

ABOUT AMBER

Carolyn's path to physical therapy is personal. As a young soccer player, she experienced injury firsthand — and that experience shaped both her empathy and her clinical eye. She is especially passionate about working with athletes of all levels, from youth players to adults looking to elevate their game, guiding them through recovery with the same determination she brings to her own training.

When she's not in the clinic, you'll find Carolyn chasing a new hobby, training for soccer, or experimenting with high-protein dessert recipes. She also plays piano and guitar — though she'll admit soccer usually wins out over those other activities!

After earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Ithaca College, Carolyn launched her career in the Ithaca outpatient orthopedic setting. She lived and served at the Varna Volunteer Fire Company, worked as a personal trainer with recruits at the NYS Academy of Fire Science, and provided weekly return-to-sport screening and field-side training for a local high school.

CLINICAL APPROACH

Carolyn leads with curiosity. She uses motivational interviewing to understand what truly matters to each patient — their goals, their lifestyle, and the "why" behind their recovery. From there, she builds individualized treatment plans that blend manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, and progressive strength training to restore mobility and function. No matter your diagnosis, expect to leave every session with tools you can use: strength training guidance and exercise strategies designed for your long-term health and independence.

CONTINUING EDUCATION & BEYOND

Carolyn is an active mentee in the Women's Committee through the NSCA, staying connected with leaders in strength and conditioning.
