Ioonna Felix

Dr. Felix is a board-certified sports and orthopedic physical therapist with over 20 years of experience. While she is a tennis performance specialist, her clinical specialties encompass all sports injuries from shoulder to ankle with a subspeciality in racquet sports, rotational sports (basketball, lacrosse & hockey) and running

CLINICAL APPROACH

Dr. Felix’s comprehensive global clinical approach in physical therapy is grounded in a holistic perspective that considers the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and environment.  Being involved in research, technology developments, she stays up to date with the latest research and integrates that evidence into her clinical decision-making to ensure the best outcomes for her patients.  Her clinical approach is one that is collaborative and multidisciplinary which enhances her ability to address her patients’ needs. Dr. Félix's extensive education, performance experience, and clinical research background allow her to provide a comprehensive treatment approach to all patients and athletes.


CONTINUING EDUCATION & BEYOND

Dr. Félix has led and co-authored on multiple clinical research topics published in peer-reviewed journals.  She has presented locally, nationally and internationally on various platforms of surgical and non-surgical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and return to play considerations for athletes to help bridge the gap between rehabilitation and return-to-sport. Her extensive experience includes work with professional and Olympic athletes in addition to the full spectrum of recreational players.  Dr. Félix treated over 15 years at the Hospital for Special Surgery and was the Site Rehabilitation Manager for the HSS Sports Medicine Institute Westside location for four years.  Dr. Félix ’s vast clinical, research and educational experience has led to her current roles as a Sports Safety Educator for HSS’ Sports Medicine Institute Athlete Health Division and consulting in the field of orthopedic technology. She currently serves as a member of the USTA’s Sports Science Commission.
